Internal Site Searches

Our crew and I have taken a well deserved break over the past couple of weeks but are now back and in the coming weeks will be bringing you more booty from all over the world. In the time we were away we had a few welcome comments from our mate Eric Peterson (which reminds me, I need to review his book, I read it and it’s great, just aint had the time to write about it yet).

Anyhow, topic of discussion today. Internal site searches. Have you ever used them? Have you ever looked at what people search your site pages for as compared to what they search to find your site for? It’s often radically different. I recently did a presentation at the eMetrics Summit in London and Munich demonstrating how we used a flag to firstly determine that there was a problem with a website and secondly showed how we analyzed what the issue was. It was a big internal search problem that resulted in the client saving potentially a million dollars a year in lost revenue.

Now that’s booty!
